Winter
Winter spreads her icy hand
casting snow upon the land
one breath she sends out frigid air
strips the trees until they’re bare
all of life below beware
Of the year she takes a quarter
the nights turn cold the days are shorter
the air outside is still as quiet
nothing dares to make a riot
for winter shows no mercy
Her heart as cold as the ice she makes
away from us the winter takes
the hope and warmth of fires’ glow
upon the fields she will bestow
a never ending cold
Deep inside her frozen soul
of her power there’s a hole
for she knows she’ll lose her power
when Spring brings the sun and flower
but today she holds the throne
